And my birthday starts with the alarm going off at 6.45am.
The weather forecast suggested it was gong to be a wet start to the day, but it wasn’t. I came back from he shower to find presents and cards laid out on the bed but left them for later. Hurried downstairs for breakfast and then out to breakfast club.
Mornings are getting chilly. Esme arrived just afte 7.45am followed shortly by Jack. We sat on the step for a while and then chatted when others arrived. It was a quiet morning. Rain started just as my hour came to an end.
Walked home with papers. Opened cards and presents. Set up new phone. And then we headed out.
Drove to Preston train station. Got train to Manchester. What a horrible service. Noisy, slow trains and not enough seats.
Got,off at Deansgate and walked to science museum. Looked round ground floor exhibits and then went for lunch in cafe. Not very impressed – paninis weren’t cooked v well and weren’t proper panini bread.
Then went up to interactive exhibit and graphene exhibition.
From there walked streets to Arndale and went in to escape rain. Walked round a square of shop avenues. Up,to Picadilly and a look round Dawson’s music shop.
Walked towards St Peters Square and stopped at art gallery. Into cafe for a drink and a scone.
Then took tram out to Salford Quay. Walked along dockside to Media City for a look around. Looped round to shopping centre and I got two coats in Next. Too late for Naomi to get anything at M&S.
Walked back to tram stop and took tram back to Picadilly. Walked round to look at possible places for tea and as rain got heavier headed to Ask.
Had a g&t cocktail to whet my appetite
We shared a platter for a starter
I had pasta with lobster and prawns.
For dessert I had honeycomb cheesecake.
And some lovely Chianti to wash it down.
A brisk walk in the rain down to Oxford Road and then train back to Preston. The Trans-Pennine service is so much more pleasant than Northern!!
Home for about 9.30pm, a small creme de cassis to settle my stomach before bed.
