Diary – Saturday 29th September 2018

Up at 8am, walk to shop, back from breakfast in end lounge for a change and then read paper.

Got ready and we left house at 10am.

Drove to Thirlmere via Ambleside. Intended to walk around Thirlmere but road and footpaths along west side were closed. Left car at Wythburn and changed plan to walk up Helvellyn. The steep side. But it only took 1 1/2 hours to get to the top. There was a very cold strong wind on the top s we didn’t stop at the summit but found a spot a few hundred metres away where we could st on the leeward side of the ridge for something to eat. Took a similar length of time to descend what felt like a rocky staircase and then a yomp along the forest track back to the car.

Drove to Keswick. Walked up and down High St. A quick shop in Boots to buy tea and then drove home via Penrith. I fell asleep in car until we stopped at Killington for fuel.

Naomi cooked the chicken for tea.

Sat in snug til bedtime.
