Diary – Saturday 27th April 2019

Alarm woke me at 6.40am, normal working day get-up time.

Got up, had breakfast and walked down to shop for paper.

Came home and we were just about ready to go.

Left house just before 8am. Drove to Lancaster and parked on Salisbury Rd and walked up to railway station.

Train on time at 8.39am and lots of empty seats. Sat and read paper and puzzled which just about filled the 2 1/2 hours.

On to tube. Took Victoria line to Oxford Circus and then central to Stratford. Met Sarah, dumped bags in car and then a hike to the hockey and tennis centre.

We were there in good time. Burgers for lunch. Very windy.

We were there to watch women’s hockey GBR v USA. Started at 2pm. In first half most action was at far end. In second half game was much more even. Score was 1-1 at full time and then there was a penalty shoot-out that ended 2-1 to GBR.

Walked back to car pack, collected bags and said goodbye.

We had a wander round Westfield shopping centre before getting back on train.

Jubilee line straight to Waterloo. Just missed one train and a ten minute wait for next one. Rob collected us from Rayners Park. On way stopped at Malden Manor to stock up on cheese.

Mince for tea followed but copious amounts of cheese and biscuits and wine.

Then reviewed hockey game on BT TV but there weren’t any close ups of us.

Bed shortly after 10pm.
